Now a days, dentists are switching from using film-based x-rays, to digital x-rays. Digital x-rays provide us a number of benefits when compared to the traditional film-based x-rays.

They reduce patients’ exposure to radiation by up to ninety percent (although even with the traditional way of taking dental x-rays, the amount of radiation patients get is normally low and harmful).

Digital radiography is more environmentally friendly, and digital x-rays take remarkably less time to develop.

The process is very simple. Your dentist will insert a sensor into the patient’s mouth to take the picture of the teeth and its surroundings; the image is ready to be viewed on the screen at the very moment it is taken: no more waiting for the film to be developed.
